What is farm energy and how can it reduce my running costs?
Farm energy means generating and storing your own electricity on-site through solar PV and battery systems, so your farm draws less power from the grid each day.
Is solar PV suitable for farm buildings and agricultural land?
Yes. Solar PV works on barn roofs, shed roofs, and ground-mounted arrays, sized to your farm's consumption so the energy you generate offsets what you use.
How does battery storage work alongside farm solar?
Battery storage captures surplus solar generation during the day and releases it in the evening or overnight, when your farm would otherwise buy peak-rate electricity from the grid.
Can renewable heating replace oil or LPG on my farm?
Heat pumps and other low-carbon heating systems can replace oil and LPG in farmhouses, holiday lets, and commercial buildings. An MCS-certified installer assesses your property and sizes the system correctly.
What does farm solar cost and is finance available?
Farm solar PV typically ranges from £6,000 to £30,000. We offer up to £30,000 interest-free, subject to status — our own finance offer, not a grant or third-party scheme.
Who installs the system and what certifications do they hold?
All systems are installed by Home Heating Services (Scotland) Ltd under MCS certification IAA10151, TrustMark 3559930, and Gas Safe 559575. Equipment is MCS-listed, confirmed on your quotation.
